Mrs Brown’s Boys confirm spin-off movie plans starring Buster and Dermot

The cast of Mrs Brown’s Boys have confirmed plans for a movie spin-off of the much-loved sitcom. Brendan O’Carroll, who plays the hilarious matriarch of the Irish clan Agnes, revealed that his son Danny and best mate Paddy Houlihan had been getting to work on a script focusing on their characters, Buster and Dermot.  Speaking at the BFI, Brendan said: ‘If you watch Mrs Brown, or you watch the TV series, or you come to the live show, you can see that chemistry between them. They’re currently writing a movie about Dermot and Buster.’ Danny then corrected him and said: ‘Written. Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll has revealed he was never meant to play Agnes and almost came close to throwing in the towel before he even began the show. The 63-year-old actor revealed to Lorraine Kelly on her programme on Monday morning that he filled in for the lead role on the radio show as the star was off sick with a kidney infection.  ‘I thought I would do her lines and then when she was better we would dub her lines in,’ Brendan started. ‘So just for authenticity, I did that voice, that Mrs Brown’s voice and when it went to the edit  it was the editor who said, “Who’s that actress playing Mrs Brown?” and I said, “Don’t be ridiculous. Head of NPCC says ‘shock to the system’ needed to increase diversity, as one force falls foul of discrimination laws Police forces should be allowed to positively discriminate in favour of potential employees from minority ethnic backgrounds in order make themselves more representative of communities they serve, the leader of Britain’s police chiefs has said. Sara Thornton, chair of the National Police Chief Council (NPCC) said she believed that positive discrimination was needed, and new laws should be passed to “shock the system”. Her comments were made just days before an employment tribunal found a police force had acted in a discriminatory way when it incorrectly used positive action in a recruitment process. Positive discrimination, where a recruiter makes a decision based on a protected characteristic, is currently illegal.
