IDENTITY CRISIS Mrs Brown’s Boys viewers want Rory written out as his replacement makes a major blunder in New Year’s Day special

MRS Brown's Boys viewers have suggested Rory needs to be written out as his replacement made a major blunder in the New Year's Day special.
Newcomer Damien McKiernan forgot his character's name in tonight's show - and it caused an upset on Twitter.

At the start of the show, "New Rory", played by Damien, entered the kitchen and Mrs Brown offered him a cup of tea.
He said no, adding: "I'm actually here to see you Rory..." as he addressed Mark, who was sat at the table.

Damien and the other castmembers burst out laughing as the actor sank to his knees.
Brendan O'Carroll, still in character as Mrs Brown, then said: "We've had all week to learn this but that was my fault."

The actors then continued the show, with "new Rory" repeating the line and finally getting the other character's name right.
But viewers were not impressed and they flocked to Twitter to express their dismay over the replacement, with some insisting the character should have been written out.

They tweeted: "Watching this ‘New Rory’ is like watching people put the milk in first when making a cup of tea - Terrible.
"Should’ve just written Rory out the show completely. #MrsBrownsBoys."

The bawdy BBC programme, based on the life of an Irish 'mammy' Agnes (Brendan O’Carroll) and her children, sparked a frenzy of reaction as actor Damien made his debut as Rory Brown.

The switch was made last year when actor Rory Cowen left the show after revealing he "wasn't happy" in the role.
He later denied that he had fallen out with Brendan, who plays his mum, telling the Irish Mirror: “I got tired of it.

  1. Give the guy a chance - he's walking in to a well know show, with cast members who are like real family....He'll find his way..... If Brendans character called someone Mrs. Brown? You'd laugh......

  2. Correct. I've always watched the show and even with the change it will be at the top. People are so fast to judge someone when they have only seen but one show with the new Rory. He will not change the show, the show will stay at the top. Keep up the great work Mrs. Browns Boys.. Wallace from New York
