Brendan's not the only one who’s been approached for reality TV, with I’m A Celebrity bosses trying to ‘sign up Buster’
BRENDAN O’Carroll has revealed he turned down £150,000 to appear on Celebrity Big Brother.
The next series of the show starts on January 2.
The actor, who found fame as the lead character in Mrs Brown’s Boys, told The Daily Star: “I had a tentative chat about Celebrity Big Brother but I just decided it’s not for me.
“I’d be homesick.”
They also report how 62-year-old Brendan’s son Danny, who plays Buster in the BBC sitcom, was approached by I’m A Celebrity bosses.
Brendan explained: “He was asked to do the Jungle but turned it down. He hates spiders.”
His wife Jennifer Gibney, who plays Cathy in the show, took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
Brendan joked her experience on a competitive show put him off for life after saying Jennifer was “exhausted” by the end.
If Brendan had signed up, he would be joining Rachel Johnson, Ashley James, Andrew Brady, Jonny Mitchell and Charlotte Leslie.
The Sun exclusively revealed these stars were heading into the house earlier this year, with more names to be revealed soon.
He's not in need of the cash, as his hit BBC sitcom continues to wow fans
Brendan O'Carroll's hit BBC series is a real family affair When casting the Brown family, Mrs Brown's Boys creator Brendan O'Carroll didn't need to look far. Harold Brown , better known as Grandad is the father of the late Redser and father-in-law to Agnes. Grandad is fairly fit for his age, being able to walk without a stick and is seen very nearly running in one episode. He gets on well with the family; however, with Agnes, this is a different matter altogether. The two have a deep rivalry, and are sometimes quite horrible to each other, examples of which include: Agnes forcing Grandad to sing a Western song and hitting him with a tray, Grandad trapping Agnes behind the Christmas tree, Agnes trying to get rid of Grandad for two weeks and Grandad referring to her as "The Twat". Despite their animosity to each other, Agnes and Grandad have been shown to genuinely care for each other, even if they conceal it very well. On Valentine's Day, Grandad gave flowers to Agnes and admitted that he thought his son was foolish for taking Agnes for granted. On another occasion, when Grandad was to go to the hos...
Wonderful news for the 67-year-old actor who plays the role of Grandad on the show. Over Christmas, he was rushed to hospital with the illness so we're glad to see he's on the mend Mrs Brown's Boys star Dermot O'Neill says he is "over the moon" after getting the all-clear from cancer. The 67-year-old actor, who plays the role of Grandad on the hugely popular sitcom, was concerned that he had suffered a relapse in recent weeks, however he has been given good news instead. Dermot explained that his neck was swollen, which forced him to pull out of appearing in the new series of All Round To Mrs Brown with his friend Brendan O'Carroll. While his scan was initially delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Dermot was finally seen to by doctors last week who delivered the happy news that he was cancer-free. "I'm over the moon, it's such a load off my mind,...
