Al Porter has been replaced as star of the Olympia Theatre Christmas Panto by former Mrs Browns Boys favourite Rory Cowan. Cowan will take up the leading role of Polly in the production of Polly and the Beanstalk following Porter’s exit from the role in light ofnumerous allegations of innapropriate behaviour. Comedian and TV and Radio personality Porter, co-wrote the panto with fellow comic Karl Spain. It would have been the Tallaght man’s 13 th  year starring in the Dublin panto. BBC Panorama last night shone a spotlight on a tax avoidance scheme run by some of the stars of BBC comedy show Mrs Brown’s boys. COPY CODE SNIPPET Star and creator of the show Brendan O’Carroll responded by telling Panorama: “I reserve the right to take the most severe legal action available to me. That is lawyer speak. I would have just said: ‘Fuck off’.” Some 380 journalists, including 31 from the UK, have been working on the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists’ Paradise Papers investigation into 13.4m leaked documents revealing the tax avoidance methods of the rich and famous. The BBC, The Guardian and Private Eye are among partner organisations working on the investigation. Last night BBC Panorama revealed how racing driver Lewis Hamilton avoided paying VAT on a £16.5m private jet and how the rich are able to enjoy a lavish tax-free lifestyle by channelling their money through tax havens around the world. Three stars of hit BBC sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys diverted more than £2m into an offshore tax-avoidance scheme, Paradise Papers documents show. Patrick Houlihan and Martin and Fiona Delany transferred their fees into companies in Mauritius and sent money back as loans. Similar tax avoidance schemes have been subject to investigation and challenges by HMRC in recent years. The actors have not responded to the BBC's requests for comment. Houlihan told the Irish Times  he had joined the scheme after receiving professional advice without fully understanding it. Roy Lyness, who put the stars in touch with the advisers behind the set-up, was the accountant behind the similar  tax avoidance scheme used by comedian Jimmy Carr. It led to the comedian saying he had made "a terrible error of judgement".
